Prestigious Awards Honor Health Champions in Northern Nevada

21st Annual Silver Syringe Awards and Fundraiser Set for April

Reno, Nev. (March 8, 2019)— Immunize Nevada announces its celebration of  immunization and health excellence at the 21st Annual Silver Syringe Awards and Fundraiser held in Reno and Las Vegas in conjunction with National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), April 27-May 4.

Northern Nevada winners will kick off NIIW and be honored Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel. Cervical cancer survivor, Tamika Felder from Cervivor, is the featured speaker at the Reno event, sharing her story of survival while inspiring attendees and reflecting on the great work they are doing for the Silver State. Southern Nevada winners will celebrate Thursday, May 2 at 6 p.m. at the SLS Las Vegas. Parent advocate and COO of Families Fighting Flu Serese Marotta will deliver the keynote address at the Las Vegas event. Serese will share her story about the loss of her son to influenza and chronicle her tireless work to protect families and children from the flu.

The Silver Syringe Awards and Fundraiser is a night to celebrate one of healthcare’s greatest accomplishments – immunizations. Silver Syringe awardees forge the path for healthy, disease-free futures across Nevada, and local physicians, community clinics, organizations and healthcare professionals will be recognized for their exemplary work in 2018. This festive fundraiser and awards dinner toasts trailblazers in preventative health and pays a special tribute to the winners and honorees who are on the forefront of Nevada’s immunization successes.

“Silver Syringe is a prestigious award and the only award that celebrates immunization champions in Nevada,” said Immunize Nevada Executive Director, Heidi Parker. “The events at both ends of the state give us the opportunity to recognize passionate individuals and organizations that are committed to making Nevada a healthier state. We invite everyone to join the cause and the fun by purchasing a ticket, becoming a sponsor or donating to the silent auction.”

Event sponsorships are still available and provide an opportunity to support not only immunization efforts, but healthy communities across the state. The event draws nearly 500 healthcare professionals and physicians, non-profit directors, and community partners in both northern and southern Nevada. Proceeds benefit Immunize Nevada’s life-saving programs and outreach efforts. For sponsorship information or to donate a silent auction item, email info@immunizenevada.org.
